home / school / life magazine - and a Giveaway!

Not every family chooses to homeschool like us, and that's fine. No single educational path is perfect for every child and family. But, however you choose to educate your children, one of the most important factors in their education is YOU.

And for all of you who are invested in how, why, what and when your children learn, there is now a magazine for you! One of my blogging friends and mentors, Shelli of Mama of Letters, has accepted the job of Senior Editor of a brand-new print AND digital magazine for families educating at home.

Shelli is giving me a free one-year digital subscription to check out for myself, and she's offering me another FREE one-year digital subscription to give to one of you!

home / school / life magazine is going to be filled with great information. It's hard for me to pick just one feature that I'm excited about, so I'll mention several of them!

One of the features that I can't wait to read every month is "The Early Grades," specifically written for families who are homeschooling children in Kindergarten through First Grade. This section will include age-appropriate information for parenting strategies and homeschooling ideas in these early years. As a new homeschooling family with our oldest finishing her Kindergarten year, we often doubt ourselves and wonder if we're "doing it right." I'm looking forward to having some inspiration and encouragement as we continue to learn how best to educate our young children. And, after the early years, I can continue to draw inspiration from regular columns featuring age-appropriate information for the middle grades, as well as high school!

Another feature that looks great is called "Career Path." How many of us grew up with only a few ideas of what we could be when we grew up? How many of us still aren't sure what we want to be? ;) In each issue, Career Path will interview someone working in a particular field to find out more about the pros and cons of that job, what it kind of education is needed, and what kind of salary to expect. I want my children to succeed in whatever they decide to pursue, but I don't want them to drown in thousands of dollars in debt for a degree if it's not needed. It will be interesting to see all the possibilities that lie ahead of them.

home / school / life will also include regular columns of other homeschooling families and what their day-to-day lives look like, experts on homeschooling curriculum, books, science and art, as well as travel, field trip, and event opportunities for homeschoolers throughout the country.

Besides all of these regular columns, there will also be feature articles in each issue, information on new tools and resources for homeschooling families, unit studies, project ideas, seasonal activities and more!

I think this magazine sounds amazing for homeschoolers - and non-homeschoolers - alike! If you are invested in your child's education, I'm sure there is something in home / school / life that will appeal to you.
